Day Camp Volunteers

Outdoors for All Day Camps provide inclusive summer experiences for youth and adults with disabilities. Volunteers support camp staff with group management, activity facilitation, and direct assistance to campers across a variety of outdoor activities, including cycling, kayaking, rock climbing, and community outings. Camps include Youth Camps (participant ages 7–17) and Adult Adventure Days (participant ages 18+).

Volunteer Age Requirements: Adult Adventure Day Camps: Age 18+ | Youth Camps: Age 16+

  • Volunteers ages 16–17 are encouraged to apply and, once approved through our online application and phone screening, may volunteer at youth camps.

Dates: June 22 – August 28 (Monday – Friday). Volunteers are encouraged to commit to a full week of camp when possible. To support planning and coordination, volunteer registration closes 7 days prior to the desired shift.

Locations: Magnuson Park (Northeast Seattle) | Lake Sammamish State Park (Issaquah) | PenMet Park (Gig Harbor)

Time: 8:45 AM – 3:00 PM

Location: Outdoors for All Magnuson Park

Requirements:

  • Must be 16+. Volunteers ages 16–17 must be approved through our online application and phone screening before volunteering.
  • Ability to commit to all responsibilities and expectations as stated in the Camp Volunteer Role Description.

Weekly Dates & Themes:

Week 1: Sports — June 22–26
Active days focused on field games and core camp activities. Volunteers support teamwork, sportsmanship, and group engagement.

Week 2: Friendship — June 29–July 2 (No camp July 3)
A social‑focused week emphasizing inclusion, collaboration, and creative activities. Volunteers help facilitate connection and peer interaction.

Week 3: Animal — July 6–10
Nature‑ and animal‑focused programming with outdoor exploration and community outings. Volunteers assist with hands‑on learning, transitions, and camper support.

Week 4: Water — July 13–17
Water‑based activities such as kayaking, swimming, and sailing. Volunteers should expect active days near or on the water and support safety and participation.

Week 5: Adventure — July 20–24
High‑energy days featuring biking, hiking, climbing, and adventure outings. Volunteers help encourage confidence, teamwork, and engagement.

Week 6: Music & Talent — July 27–31
Creative and performance‑focused activities leading toward a mid‑summer talent showcase. Volunteers support self‑expression, preparation, and group coordination.

Week 7: Animal — August 3–7
Nature‑ and animal‑focused programming with outdoor exploration and community outings. Volunteers assist with hands‑on learning, transitions, and camper support.

Week 8: Water — August 10–14
Water‑based activities such as kayaking, swimming, and sailing. Volunteers should expect active days near or on the water and support safety and participation.

Week 9: Adventure — August 17–21
High‑energy days featuring biking, hiking, climbing, and adventure outings. Volunteers help encourage confidence, teamwork, and engagement.

Week 10: Music & Talent — August 24–28
Creative and performance‑focused activities leading toward the final summer talent showcase. Volunteers support self‑expression, preparation, and group coordination.

Specific outings and activities may change based on weather, staffing, and program needs. PenMet Youth Camp does not follow weekly themes.

Week 1: June 22–26
Introductory week featuring park exploration and active recreation, including hiking, climbing, ice skating, biking, and bowling. Volunteers support camper engagement, transitions, and group participation.

Week 2: June 29–July 2 (No program July 3)
A mix of outdoor play and creative programming such as park outings, science projects, biking, mini golf, and swimming. Volunteers help facilitate hands‑on activities and positive peer interaction.

Week 3: July 6–10
Community‑focused outings including biking, crafts, zoo visits, nature hikes, swimming, and museum trips. Volunteers assist with transitions, camper support, and engagement in new environments.

Week 4: July 13–17
Water and play‑based activities including playground visits, biking, Tinkertopia, swimming, and climbing. Volunteers support safety, participation, and inclusive play throughout the week.

Week 5: July 20–24
Active adventure outings such as beach walks, biking, mini golf, ice skating, swimming, and bowling. Volunteers help encourage confidence, teamwork, and group fun.

Week 6: July 27–31
Nature and adventure‑themed activities including park exploration, biking, mini golf, climbing, swimming, and museum visits. Volunteers assist with camper support and group logistics.

Week 7: August 3–7
Outdoor exploration and animal‑focused outings, with park visits, biking, zoo trips, mini golf, and swimming. Volunteers help facilitate transitions and engagement during busy outing days.

Week 8: August 10–14
A blend of playground time, biking, bowling, museum visits, climbing, and swimming. Volunteers support participation and help campers navigate varied activities.

Week 9: August 17–21
Adventure‑oriented programming including hiking, kayaking, biking, playgrounds, swimming, and horse‑related outings. Volunteers assist with on‑trail and on‑water support and group cohesion.

Week 10: August 24–28
End‑of‑summer activities featuring park exploration, biking, bowling, creative time at Tinkertopia, climbing, and swimming. Volunteers support wrap‑up energy, camper engagement, and positive program close‑out.

Spring Break Day Camp

Our spring break day camp focuses on building social skills while enjoying time outdoors. Activities may include indoor swimming, biking, museum visits, and other engaging adventures. Volunteers will help facilitate activities, support group management, and participate alongside campers throughout the day. 

Dates: 4/13, 4/14, 4/15, 4/16, 4/17 

Time: 8:45 AM – 3:15 PM 

Location: Outdoors for All Magnuson Park 

Requirements: 

  • Age 18+  
  • Completion of all required trainings  

Training:

Support our rock-climbing program during spring break! Volunteers will belay participants, side climb, and help create a safe and supportive climbing environment. 

Dates: 4/13, 4/16 

Time: 12:30 PM – 3:30 PM

Location: Seattle Mountaineers 

Requirements: 

  • Age 18+  
  • Completion of all required trainings  
  • Previous rock climbing and belay experience required  
  • Must be belay certified (bring belay certification card from any gym, or we will complete a knowledge check) 
  • Bring your own harness and climbing shoes if available (notify staff in advance if you need to borrow equipment)
