More than 150 people gathered at Old Stove Gardens for an incredible evening celebrating adaptive recreation, community, and the winter adventures ahead.
On Monday, October 12, Outdoors for All hosted our first adaptive sports film screening at Old Stove Gardens in Ballard, and what an incredible night it was! With more than 150 people in attendance, the evening was a wonderful reminder of the power of community and the shared passion for outdoor recreation that brings us all together.
Participants, volunteers, donors, board members, longtime supporters, and plenty of new faces filled the space for an evening dedicated to celebrating adaptive recreation. While many of our events focus on fundraising or volunteer appreciation, this night was all about bringing people together, sharing experiences, and celebrating the outdoors.
And judging by the energy in the room, it was a huge success!
Celebrating Adaptive Sports and Getting Ready for Winter
The highlight of the evening was a screening of Forward, an incredible film celebrating adaptive sports, determination, and the joy of outdoor adventure. The film was a powerful reminder of why access to outdoor recreation matters and the impact that opportunities for adventure, independence, and connection can have on individuals of all abilities.
It also had us more than a little excited for the upcoming winter season! With winter season just around the corner, the screening was the perfect way to get everyone thinking about snowy mountains, fresh turns, and the adventures ahead.
More Than Just a Film Screening
What made the evening especially meaningful wasn’t just the film itself, but the people who came together to experience it.
Throughout the night, familiar faces reconnected, new friendships were made, and people from all corners of the Outdoors for All community had an opportunity to gather outside of our usual programs and events.
For more than 45 years, Outdoors for All has worked to enrich the quality of life for children and adults with disabilities through outdoor recreation. Events like this remind us that
our mission extends beyond the activities themselves. It’s also about building a community where everyone feels welcome, connected, and excited to get outside.
Seeing so many people come together simply to celebrate adaptive sports was a special moment for our team and a wonderful way to kick off the excitement for winter.
A Special Thank You to the People Who Made It Possible
We couldn’t have asked for better partners to help bring this event to life.
First, a huge thank you to our wonderful friends at Old Stove Brewing for once again welcoming the Outdoors for All community. The Old Stove team is always so willing and excited to partner with us on events, and their hospitality never goes unnoticed. We truly love working with you all and appreciate your continued enthusiasm for bringing people together and supporting our mission. Thank you for helping us create another memorable evening!
We also want to recognize Piper, one of our incredible volunteers, who was the driving force behind this event. Piper had a vision to bring people together through an adaptive sports film screening, and she took that idea and ran with it! From the initial concept to bringing the evening to life, her enthusiasm, creativity, and dedication made this event possible.
Our volunteers are at the heart of so much of what we do, and Piper is a wonderful example of the impact one person’s passion and initiative can have on an entire community. Thank you, Piper, for dreaming this up and making it happen!
Thank You for Sharing the Stoke!
Finally, a huge thank you to everyone who joined us for this first-ever screening. Whether you’ve been part of the Outdoors for All community for decades or were joining us for the very first time, we’re grateful you spent your Monday evening with us.
We hope you left feeling as excited about the upcoming winter season as we did!
As we look ahead to another winter of skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, and outdoor adventures, we can’t wait to see our community back on the mountain.
Thanks for sharing the stoke with us. See you on the slopes this winter!
Now, let’s all pray for snow!
