Transforming lives through outdoor recreation
Success Stories
“This was my first year with Outdoors for All. I love my ski instructor, Tim W. He was patient, kind, and fun! He taught me how to make turns in the snow and that wearing my goggles can be a good thing! Skiing with Outdoors for All has helped me be independent and feel confident on skis. All of the volunteers were super nice to me, and I can’t wait until next year!”

“My experience this winter was great!! I learned how to cross-country sit ski. I have never done this before until this year. I love being on the snow because I get exercise on the weekend, when I normally wouldn’t. The weather is nice too. Finally, the instructors are nice and respectful. They help me review what I have learned so far. My favorite moment so far was when I actually learned how to steer the sit-ski into different tracks, which is very difficult.”

Sophie and her dad, David, recently signed up for a private bike riding lesson with Outdoors for All. During her lesson, Sophie learned the basics of safely riding a standard two-wheeled bicycle (Strider). After completing her lesson, the two started regularly visiting the new Adaptive Cycling Center at Lake Sammamish State Park.
David shared, “I can’t tell you how helpful it is to have your new location open in Lake Sammamish. It makes it easy for us to swing by for a 30-minute practice session, which is ideal for her but not workable for us with your Magnuson location. I’m excited to see her excited about learning to ride.”

Noelle DeMarr discovered the thrill of sit skiing through Outdoors for All, an experience that introduced her to the slopes in a way she hadn’t imagined possible.
“Outdoors for All’s sit skiing program opened the door for me to try downhill skiing for the first time” Noelle stated, emphasizing the transformative role the program played in her life. “With abundant, talented, and knowledgeable instructors and volunteers, I have always felt supported and encouraged to keep learning.”
For Noelle, sit skiing has become more than a pastime; it’s a testament to Outdoors for All’s commitment to making recreational activities accessible to everyone, regardless of physical limitations.

John Dillon’s cycling adventures took an unexpected pause when a stroke limited his mobility just days after purchasing a new bike. Yet, his love for cycling remained undiminished.
With the support of Outdoors for All, John discovered the joy of riding adult recumbent trikes, allowing him to navigate the streets with a renewed sense of freedom. It wasn’t long before an Outdoors for All event reignited a profound connection to his past; John found himself cycling along familiar streets, where he cycled before his stroke.
Reflecting on this full-circle moment, John expressed, “Two wheels or three, Outdoors for All had given me back a joy I’d lost.”

Cole is a shining example that embodies the transformative impact of our programs, and the vital role your support plays. Cole is a remarkable young participant with autism and speech delays, who first joined us at Outdoors for All in the summer of 2016.
“Throughout his 8 years of camp and thanks to many friendly, positive, patient counselors, Cole has learned social skills and has become more engaged with others in group activities. He has learned to answer questions and engage in group games like parachute activities and frisbee. Camp has not only taught Cole how to rock climb, kayak, and sail, but has given him the opportunity to engage with age-appropriate peers in a friendly guided environment. He has learned to have more flexibility which has helped him be successful in all areas of life outside of camp!”- Charmaine, Cole’s Mother
