Safety and Acceptance
Outdoors for All reserves the right to deny enrollment for medical, safety, or behavioral reasons. A participant may be required to wear a helmet. The safety of our participants and volunteers is a prime goal at Outdoors for All. Safety instruction precedes each activity.
Participant Personal Needs
Volunteers are not prepared to handle significant personal care needs. Individuals with these needs must provide their own support and inform Outdoors for All with their registration.
Age
The minimum age for each activity varies due to the nature of the sport. Check each activity carefully. There is no maximum age for participation.
Family Members
Family members are encouraged to join the fun! Volunteers can work individually with the participant while family members enjoy the same activity. This works especially well during cycling and hiking. Please call the Outdoors for All office to discuss the nature of your family involvement.
Participant Behavior Standards
Behavior issues can be a part of many disabilities. Outdoors for All makes every attempt to accommodate the aspects of individuals’ disabilities. However, Outdoors for All volunteers and staff are not prepared or expected to deal with significant behavior issues. Please alert the office in advance regarding issues of concern so that we can work together to effect a positive, safe experience for both participants and volunteers. Unacceptable behavior can include:
- significant self abuse
- sexual misconduct
- physical abuse of others
- violent behavior
- significant verbal abuse
- extreme profanity
- a consistent unwillingness to participate in activities
Noncompliance with Behavior Standards may result in the requirement that a caregiver accompany participant during future activities or possible dismissal from activities.
