SHELIA ZENTLER

Shelia Zentler, originally from Everett, Washington, joined the Outdoors for All Team in November of 2006. She attended Eastern Washington University earning a BA in both Recreation Management Spanish. She has an insatiable love for the wilderness and was pulled in by the history and ancestral knowledge of primitive skills while she was a Wilderness Instructor and then Program Supervisor for a Wilderness Therapy Program in Southern Idaho. Shelia is a member of The Society of Primitive Technology and spends a good portion of her free time honing in these "Abo-Original" Skills.

When Shelia is not spinning wool into yarn or rubbing sticks together to make fire she indulges in any recreation activity she can get her hands on from rock climbing and camping to her favorite sport, swimming. Shelia has moved through different levels of competing, life guarding, teaching and coaching swimming since she was 9 years old and is excited to be back in an area with so much water both indoors and outdoors after her two year hiatus in the desert of Southern Idaho. Shelia lives for what she calls the "Ah ha!" moment. That moment when a person has been struggling or working hard to learn a skill or overcome a challenge and the light inside of them flips on enabling them to all of a sudden conquer that step in their evolution. This is what drives her to continue to be a participant, a coach, an advocate and a loyal teammate in any community she is a part of as well as in her personal life.
